Abdel Azim Tantawi awarded Japanese prize
An Egyptian scientist who is expert in rice cultivation has won a prestigious Japanese award. Dr Abdel Azim Tantawi, the former head of the Agricultural Research Centre, has outperformed a host of scientists worldwide. Tantawi was singled out for creating high-quality, premature and disease-resistible rice seeds. The new seeds do not further need too much water to grow unlike natural ones.
